Public Private Partnerships (PPPs)

Jamaican private sector and parental involvement in education and the schools is on the rise. EEH strongly believes in the need to help build the requisite skills within EEH institutions to create sustainable public private partnerships (PPP) which, in turn, will result in stronger learning environments for Jamaican children.

A private/public partnership is an alliance between two or more parties to define jointly a development problem and contribute to its solution. A PPP is not a one-time donation. Partners share resources, risks and rewards. Partnerships can be in cash or in kind (e.g., services, materials, volunteers).

Through a dedicated and experienced team headed by a Stakeholder Support Specialist, EEH is channelling much needed investment into project schools and NGO communities to improve opportunities for learning and development of children and young people.

EEH has begun to create and manage a number of initiatives:

• Provide direct support to schools so these communities realize their own noted school improvement goals
• Demonstrate best practices in various aspects of creating Public Private Partnerships
• Create an evidence base that demonstrates the value of Public Private Partnerships
• Develop a variety of resources that provide opportunities that positively impact the whole school community, especially parents.
